1 Michelin Star Restaurant
We are looking for an experienced Maître with a strong background in fine dining to join the team at Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura in Florence.
Reporting directly to the Restaurant Manager, the Maître d’ will play a central role in the operational coordination of the dining room and in ensuring an impeccable, authentic and personalized hospitality experience, consistently maintaining the highest standards of service and attention to detail.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise the front-of-house team during service, ensuring smoothness, precision and compliance with service standards.
- Welcome guests and oversee their entire experience, from arrival through to departure.
- Lead pre-service briefings, organizing sections and assigning team responsibilities.
- Ensure an in-depth knowledge of the menu, ingredients, preparations and allergens, guaranteeing their accurate presentation to guests.
- Work closely with the kitchen and Sommelier team to ensure a coordinated and seamless service.
- Supervise the care and maintenance of tables throughout all stages of service.
- Anticipate guests’ needs and handle special requests, special occasions and VIP guests with discretion and professionalism.
- Address any guest feedback during service promptly, sensitively and with a solution-oriented approach.
- Support the training and professional development of junior members of the front-of-house team.
- Ensure the correct application of the restaurant’s procedures and service standards.
- Support the Restaurant Manager in the daily operational management of the dining room, promptly reporting any issues, needs or opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute on a daily basis to creating a collaborative, professional and excellence-driven working environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Maître d’ or in a similar position within Michelin-starred restaurants, fine dining establishments or luxury hospitality environments.
- Excellent knowledge of fine dining service techniques and standards.
- Strong leadership, coordination and operational team management skills during service.
- Good knowledge of wine, including major Italian and international appellations, with the ability to understand and present a wine list and assist guests with their selection in coordination with the Sommelier team.
- Strong gastronomic knowledge and a solid understanding of the Food & Beverage industry.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and guest management skills.
- Strong hospitality mindset and the ability to anticipate guests’ needs and expectations.
- Outstanding attention to detail, precision and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain high-quality standards even during high-intensity services.
- Excellent command of both Italian and English; knowledge of additional languages is considered a plus.
- Previous international professional experience is considered a plus.
- Professionalism, discretion, impeccable personal presentation and a genuine passion for hospitality.
